The Global Britain Summit

The challenge

We were hired by the Coalition for Global Prosperity to create and deliver a must-attend one-day conference for the international development sector, with an audience of high-level political, military, development and faith leaders. The conference aimed to discuss current human rights and international development policy issues and to explore how Britain can continue to be a leading force for good in the world. Our role was to develop a compelling event concept and then execute the chosen concept into a polished and seamless event experience.

The solution

We worked with the Coalition for Global Prosperity team for a period of six months and implemented our signature four-phased approach.

  • Phase 1 - Discovery
    • During this phase, we worked with GGP to understand the strategic priorities for the event and how it relates to the broader goals of their organisation.
    • We identified the target audience and key stakeholders and what is important to them. This allowed us to brainstorm engagement activities that would resonate with the attendees.
    • With this research, we developed three concepts. The client selected our ‘high-level summit’ concept, which helped to showcase CGP's work and influence across the globe, bringing together the most esteemed experts in international development, including those with lived experience.
    • We created a striking visual identity to go alongside this concept which the client could reuse at future Global Britain Summit events, building recognition of the event each year.

  • Phase 2 - Planning
    • In this phase, we put our project plan into action, which includes weekly calls with the client to update on our progress, align on work-streams, tasks and responsibilities, identify opportunities and hear any developments from the client's side.
    • We commenced our marketing efforts. This involved creating a customised website, crafting invitations, and developing promotional materials with the visual identity we created. We executed a well-defined marketing strategy that guided our targeted outreach activities within a specified timeline.

  • Phase 3 - Execution
    • During this phase, we finalised the logistical details and looked for risks, opportunities to finesse the event experience and drive further engagement. We distributed the key information to speakers and stakeholders, including briefings, biographies and FAQs.
    • We finalised the run-of-show and production schedule, shared joining instructions to attendees, and finalised the requirements for the set-up, on-site delivery and close-down of the event.
    • We conducted a pre-event briefing with the client team to establish everyone's roles and responsibilities on the day. We took on all the logistical roles to ensure the clients could focus on networking and engagement with the speakers and attendees. With this freedom, they were able to have in-depth discussions with MPs and policy makers about their work abroad, and established deeper relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Phase 4 - Evaluation
    • After the event, we analysed feedback from attendees, speakers and the client to understand if the event's objectives were achieved, and how the client-agency relationship worked.
    • With all the findings, we produced a written report of recommendations to help the client develop future events.

The results

  • 140 senior civil society representatives, policymakers, MPs and journalists attended the summit, and they were impressed by the striking venue, RSA House.
  • By producing a unique brand for the Summit, we helped the CGP team build awareness of their work among key stakeholders, reinforcing their position as a key player in the international development sector.
  • Through the strategic use of the speaker green room, we created a space for the senior team at CGP to develop relationships with MPs and leaders in the sector and secured interest in future engagement with international trips.
  • A powerful contribution from Kira Rudik MP, the People’s Deputy of Ukraine, highlighted the influential connections CGP has. Despite joining remotely, delivered an incredibly engaging session with significant coverage on social media, with attendees live tweeting throughout.
  • The event visual identity was striking and bold, creating a brand identity that can be applied to future Global Britain series events that CGP holds.

What the client thought

"Today was absolutely incredible. I've heard so many great things from senior stakeholders."
